I love books! I love looking at them, buying them, touching them, and then looking at them some more…Did you notice how I haven’t mentioned reading them?
I obviously also absolutely love reading books.
But, here’s a confession: I’m the kind of person who sometimes fantasises so much about reading books, curled up in an armchair with a blanket, but then forgets to actually read them all. The kind of person who will read 5 books in a row, take a month’s break, and then go out and buy new books, whilst the ones in my bookcase look at me, shaking their covers disapprovingly.
Somehow, I don’t see much of this behaviour with my chocolate-eating – I’m proud to say that my commitment there is stronger and I make sure to finish all the chocolate in the house before bringing in more!
Now that I’ve been open about my lifestyle, and I hope some of you will relate, perhaps I can explain how this blog came about and what you can expect.
As I may have mentioned, I love books – they give me comfort and warm my heart. And sometimes they destroy me and I’m left crying for a character I’ve only known for 300 to 350 pages. But who wants to go through these feelings alone?
As supportive as my husband is, he’s had enough of me talking about my books, so it was time I started sharing my thoughts with people who have voluntarily come into this space (and not because they’ve promised to be there for better or for worse.)
Through reviews and book-related articles and tips, I hope that I will inspire you to find the next novel you fall in love with. In turn, I can’t wait to discover the books that have changed your life and add some more books to my TBR pile.
Oh wait! How does chocolate fit into all this? Well, can you think of anything better than sitting down with a warm cup of coffee, a book and some chocolate?
But, like books, not all chocolates are created equal, nor is each type of chocolate good on all occasions! I mean, you wouldn’t pair the saddest book you’ve ever read (looking at you Flowers for Algernon) with a big piece of 100% cocoa chocolate, would you? It’s all about the perfect match!
My challenge, in this blog, will be to find each book’s chocolate soulmate – to make your reading experience as cozy and warm as possible.
To find the right one for each novel, I will have to go through several varieties of chocolate – from creamy pralines to smooth dark chocolate truffles. Yet, this is a sacrifice I’m ready to make.
So, if this sounds like your cup of tea (or box of chocolate?) welcome and thank you for being here!
